the food- the restaurant is located in the hotels basement so it is dark and gloomy with hideous decor. the lifts were such a joke, would go to the wrong floor than the one you requested and you can’t have more than 3 people in at a time because it says it’s too heavy. the second day of our stay we were greeted to a pile of sick all the way down the wall of the stairs which wasn’t cleaned up till later on in the day. when sitting on our balcony listening to music (not even loud) we were told to shut up and then got spat on by rowdy german lads from the balcony above. although we can’t fault the hotel for this next bit but the place was full of rude germans. my friends bed had some kind of body fluid on the sheets as well as pen marks. we also had to request new bedding as the bed was clearly not changed from the last visit. after wiping it down she squeezed the cloth out which resulted in black water from the dirt that cams off the bath. not convinced we still persisted that she cleaned it. when we requested for it to be cleaned we were told by the cleaner that is wasn’t dirty only old. not only could you barely fit a small child in it, it was filthy. we then went into the bathroom and saw the state of the bath tub. if you like hotels with rubbish food and rude and rowdy germans swarming the place then this hotel is for you! the rooms- when we arrived the room seemed to be clean and airy. we understand you get what you pay for but i wouldn’t pay £10 to stay here again, let alone the £330 we spent on this holiday each. Our time at this hotel was constantly blowing hot and cold. All in all, our stay at Cassandra was good but the hotel rooms would definitley benefit from an upgrade and refurbishment and the food could benefit from adding more choices.… A small bar offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages is also by the pool. The pool area is clean, the pool is only small and only has about 15 sun beds available. However, drinks were included with evening meal on half board basis which was a nice surprise. The breakfast was the same daily and the evening meals were similar only changing the meat/fish but not a lot of range. The food at the hotel was plain and minimal choice. However, since Arenal is a German equivalent to Magaluf resort for the Brits. However other guests in the hotel were rowdy and noisy during the night. We never heard the lifts as mentioned in previous reviews. After a second complaint, this still didn’t happen. We complained on our first night that our balcony had no chairs, we were told this would be sorted. The room size was decent and clean, so was the bathroom. Emilio on reception is lovely and polite. The entrance to the hotel and reception is very modern, as is the bar area. I wouldn’t agree that the hotel is 3*, maybe 2*. This review is Definitley not a complaint but this hotel is a budget hotel so if you have booked a holiday, don’t go with high expectations. I don’t think I would like to stay here again though. We only used it as a base to quickly change, refresh and sleep. Overall ok experience- you get what you pay for. On the other hand the air con in the room was great! Be prepared to pay 15 € deposit for the remote. When it worked it only allowed 3 people in which was really annoying. Our room was on the 6th floor and the lift was frequently out of order. The staff was friendly but did not speak much English- which is fair…I guess I need to learn more Spanish! The lift was a nightmare. We only paid for breakfast which was definitely aimed at German guests. Food was ok if you are not a fussy eater. It was cleanish, fresh towels and sheets everyday but the place is very dated and definitely needs some TLC. It is cheap and cheerful- if you are looking for a luxury this is not a place for you. The hotel has 3 stars on its door but to be honest it is more of a budget hostel than a 3-star hotel.
